Dad, remember after mam died we were left in the house on our own. I am so glad that we became the closest of friends. I would describe ourselves as the odd couple! I got my DIY talents from you (Not!!!). I remember coming through the front door one day and there you were. sledge hammer in hand ready to start bashing the front room wall down to rearrange the rooms. I had to take the hammer from you and suggest it would be good to take the carpets up, cover the glass in the windows and doors and do things a bit at a time. You got your own back though, when I drilled through a water pipe in the living room and could not find the stop cock. You happened to walk back into the house at this point and laughed and calmly turned the water off. We agreed it would best if we avoided the home improvements from then on.
